We first spotted signs of it back in March and now it’s official. Smart N Save’s Burnaby outpost has grand opened as of May 27, bringing its signature snack aisles and nostalgic Hong Kong-style cafe eats to the Royal Oak neighbourhood. Taking over a former 7-Eleven on Rumble Street (across from STEM Japanese Eatery), this new location marks the brand’s first grocery + cafe concept. If the name rings a bell, that’s because Smart N Save has been offering Asian snacks since 2004.

Most of Vancouver’s new cafes have that clean, cool, minimalist aesthetic that makes them perfect for Instagram. But this new-ish hidden gem along Kingsway flips the script, and honestly, it might just be the coziest cafe in the city right now. It’s all about turning tea drinking into a moment of Zen, because who couldn’t use a little peace with their caffeine?

A well-loved and iconic Vietnamese noodle house is expanding and it is just in time for a milestone year. Hồng Phát, the Vietnamese eatery best known for its Hủ Tiếu Nam Vang, is opening a new location in Richmond this July, and we got the inside scoop straight from the team. A Noms Mag community member (@raincouvereatery) tipped us off about the restaurant posting hiring listings for a new restaurant, and when we went to ask the team what’s cooking.

Tofu pudding fans, the wait is finally over. Earlier this month we shared that one of Ontario’s best tofu pudding shop is landing in Vancouver. Well, Yuan Soy Food has officially opened its Vancouver outpost on the ground floor of First Avenue Marketplace, and if opening weekend is any indication, this spot is going to be a hit. We swung by on Victoria Day long weekend to check it out for ourselves, and we weren’t the only ones. There was already a line stretching a block long outside the shop.
