NARRAGANSETT, R.I. — The recall vote for three Narragansett Town Council members is suspended, but not washed away yet in goodwill from a council attempting to appease upset voters by having workshops on disputed zoning changes. “The recall may be suspended, but it’s not off the table,” said Gail Scowcroft, organizer of a petition to remove council members James Durkin, Donna Vignali, and Jason Colonies from office.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – In late March, when boys lacrosse teams were still finalizing their rosters, North Kingstown shut out South Kingstown 5-0 in a scrimmage. It didn’t count for anything in the standings, but that was the Rebels’ starting point in a new division. On Friday, the two teams played again, this time in the Division I quarterfinal with everything on the line – unofficially dubbed the South County championship. The Rebels won 8-7 in overtime.

PAWTUCKET – It was only fitting that the Division II boys tennis championship went the distance. No. 2 Narragansett and No. 1 Prout were exceptionally balanced and split a pair of regular-season meetings. As the first six individual matches of Sunday’s title contest at Slater Park finished with no winner decided, all eyes turned to No. 3 singles where Narragansett senior Alex Greenberg and Prout freshman Nico Testa went to a final set.

This Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is making rounds at various school events and other schools, too, as South Kingstown’s first therapy dog. By all accounts, the two-and-a-half-year-old dog — also known as Lord Bentley — is quite a hit.
