We were recently tasked with updating prices for multiple Italian coins from the 1800s and 1900s. At some levels, the listed values were below the silver melt value of the coins. In doing this, I took the occasion to review all the market prices for the 5 lire from 1869 to 1875. This example is cataloged as KM 8.3. While reviewing past sales results, the price realized for 1872-M silver 5 lire, sold in a Heritage auction more than 10 years ago, jumped out at me.

The end times have come at the Scottsdale Mint, and it looks beautiful. The U.S. private mint has released the final two editions of its popular "Biblical Series," which showcases the artwork of acclaimed nineteenth-century French artist Gustave Doré on 2-ounce silver antique finish coins. Beginning in 2016, the series has been presented in six coins annually that feature scenes from some of the most well-known moments in the Christian Bible.
U.S. Mint Releases Survey for 2027 Quarter Program

The year 2025 marks the end of the U.S. Mint’s American Women Quarter program. The following year, 2026, will see new quarters, a new dime, and a new half-dollar, all to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Citizen’s Coinage Advisory Committee met in the fall of 2024 to discuss the designs for the semi-quincentennial coins. Now, the Mint is calling on the people for their input for a new quarter program that will begin in 2027.
