US Navy ship docks on four-day Colombo visit, no date announced for Chinese research vessel

Colombo: A US Navy ship has arrived at the port of Colombo but the authorities have not announced any dates as yet for the Chinese research vessel scheduled to reach the Lanka shores this month. The Sri Lanka Navy said USNS Brunswick, an expeditionary fast transport ship, arrived Wednesday on a 4-day formal visit. The 103-metre-long ship is manned by a crew of 24 and they are to visit leading tourist attraction sites in the country, the Sri Lanka Navy said in a statement.
Unemployment rate dips to 6.6% in urban areas in April-June 2023: Govt survey

New Delhi: The unemployment rate for persons aged 15 years and above in urban areas declined to 6.6 per cent during April-June 2023 from 7.6 per cent a year ago, the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) data showed. Joblessness or unemployment rate is defined as the percentage of unemployed persons in the labour force. Joblessness was high in April-June 2022 mainly due to the staggering impact of Covid-related restrictions in the country.
