Lane pleaded guilty to excessive whip use in that he used the persuader on 20 occasions in totality, including 10 prior to the 100m - five more than is permitted under the rule.

The Nick Olive-trained filly comes to the city to tackle the Listed Fernhill Mile on the back of a dominant maiden win at Cowra and a 0.2 length victory at Albury in Class 1 company. Although a narrow winner of her most recent outing, the first two home put some six lengths on the rest of the field.

A group of punters just about blew the roof off the Maribyrnong Park Football Club social rooms after jagging the multi of a lifetime over the weekend. The 10-leg racing multi started with $1.70 chance Sir Now saluting in race two at Morphettville Parks and ended over six hours later with Machine Gun Gracie ($1.70) taking out the G3 WA Oaks at Ascot. The $500 bet netted the Ladbrokes account holder a return of $166,389.78 in what was a relatively painless punting ride.

Gaudray was slapped with a 12-meeting suspension for allowing her mount, Torranzino, to shift out near the 350m when insufficiently clear of Charise.
