The Boston Red Sox are struggling as of late. They have lost five games in a row and are 40-42 on the season. They are losing ground in the American League East and sit seven games out of first place, but are only two games back in the Wild Card race. The Los Angeles Dodgers are tied with the Detroit Tigers for the best record in Major League Baseball at 51-31. They also have a 6 1/2 game lead over the San Diego Padres in the NL West. But to clinch a spot in the postseason, Boston needs to make a move or two to boost its roster. The starting rotation in particular needs work.

The trade deadline is fast approaching, and New York might be in the market for some reinforcements. Another bat wouldn't hurt to add. The Yankees should be looking for some big upgrades if they want to make a return trip to the World Series.

The San Francisco Giants have already made the biggest trade of this year's deadline, having acquired Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for pitchers Jordan Hicks and Kyle Harrison. However, they may not be done just yet. The deadline is still weeks away, and there will be more available to them. Another bat certainly wouldn't hurt as they try to gain ground in the National League West.
