ESPNcricinfo, which was previously known as Cricinfo or CricInfo, is a dedicated sports news platform focused solely on cricket. The website provides a range of content, including news updates, articles, live match coverage (complete with live blogs and scorecards), and StatsGuru, which is a comprehensive database of historical cricket matches and players dating back to the 18th century. As of July 2015, Sambit Bal served as the editor of the site. Originally created in 1993 by Dr. Simon King in a format before the internet became widespread, the platform was acquired by the Wisden Group in 2002, known for publishing prominent cricket magazines and the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack. In 2007, as part of a restructuring of the Wisden Group, it was sold to ESPN, which is co-owned by The Walt Disney Company and Hearst Corporation.
