今年創立７０周年を迎えた南加庭園業連盟（ＳＣＧＦ）はこのほど、ロサンゼルスの日米文化会館（ＪＡＣＣＣ）で記念式典を開催し、併せて同館内に新設された「日系ガーデナー顕彰の碑」の除幕式を行った。（長井智子、写真も）当日早朝、ロサンゼルスでは珍しく雨が降ったが、雨上がりのＪＡＣＣＣ日本庭園「清流苑」は一層清々しいたたずまいで来場者を迎えた。式典は和太鼓グループ「氣心太鼓」の力強い演奏で開幕し、「日系ガーデナー顕彰の碑」がお披露目された。除幕はＳＣＧＦのブライアン・ヤマサキ会長と在ロサンゼルス総領事館の曽根健孝総領事が務め、顕彰碑が姿を現わすと庭園に集まった出席者から大きな拍手が沸き起こった。銘板には「清流園」と日系社会の育成に貢献した日系ガーデナーの功績と、一句の川柳「日系の庭師の誉れ緑化の美」（「ガーデナー川柳」から）が日英両語で紹介されている。...
