The Maritime Executive
The Maritime Executive started its journey in 1997, offering insights from global executives along with case studies about their companies in every edition. Over the years, it has grown into the largest business journal in the maritime sector, distributing 28,000 copies six times a year across 127 countries. In 1999, the MarEx Newsletter launched, initially reaching just 1,000 readers with a monthly publication. Now, it has expanded significantly, publishing five times a week and reaching over 60,000 subscribers. The Maritime Executive's website, which debuted in 1999 at www.maritime-executive.com, originally served as a platform for the magazine and newsletter. It has since evolved into a valuable source for breaking news, editorials, videos, and industry happenings. Both the newsletter and the website have also turned into substantial revenue generators for the organization.

CELEBRATING WOMEN With the IMO’s International Day for Women in Maritime coming up in May, we thought it appropriate to highlight two stellar examples of women’s achievements in our current issue. The first is Elpi Petraki, pictured on the cover, and the second is Helen Barden, featured in our Executive Achievement column. Elpi, of course, is the dynamic President of WISTA International, the leading organization for women in maritime.

The Saya de Malha Bank has been especially attractive for such ambitions.
