PLANS to erect eight glamping pods for holiday let at a farm near Highbridge have been submitted to Somerset Council. Sharon Ward, of Elm Tree Farm at Mark, submitted plans in January for the glamping pods to be situated in a field off Southfield Road. The pods would utilise the existing 30 parking spaces on site. If plans are approved, it would become the second glamping pod destination in the small village of Mark.

Lyscombe Nature Reserve (Image: Freelance) PROGRESS is being made with a wildlife project on a Dorset Wildlife Trust farm site north of Dorchester. Plans have now been approved by Dorset Council for the demolition of some former agricultural buildings at Lyscombe Farm, Piddletrenthide, with the creation of a volunteer hub and 24-space car park. One of the former farm buildings is likely to be converted into a three-bed private home.

Three new hi-tech Tenstar simulators, costing more than £222,000, have been installed for students studying agriculture, engineering, and horticulture. The simulators are designed to help learners gain confidence and basic skills before they operate real machinery.

Luke Cox, from Wiltshire, asked members to agree that the tax reforms would have a detrimental impact on the next generation of farmers at the National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs (NFYFC) Annual Meeting of Clubs (AMC). The meeting, which took place on Sunday (April 13), was held in Leamington Spa.

As of April 12, travellers from EU countries are banned from bringing meat or dairy into Great Britain for personal use. This includes sandwiches, cheese, cured or raw meats, and milk - whether packed, unpacked, or bought duty-free.
