...A woman died from a rare lung disease caused by picking flowers and vegetables in Cornwall, an inquest has heard. Rosa Perestrelo, 52, of Reawla Lane, Hayle, was exposed to breathing in irritants in her work picking daffodils and cabbages, a respiratory consultant said. Dr Benjamin Soar told the Truro inquest Ms Perestrelo began her seasonal work in 1998 and continued working in a "dusty environment" until 2016.

Pirate FM is changing its name this springRadio station Pirate FM is changing its name and output in the coming months, with some jobs at risk. The station will become digital-only Hits Radio Cornwall and will continue to broadcast its morning show from its base at Pool. Two frequencies that Pirate FM broadcast over will be taken over by Greatest Hits Radio Cornwall. Both stations will give local news and traffic updates, Bauer Media Group, which owns the Hits Radio brand, said.

An event looking at how to support people bereaved by suicide is coming to Guernsey. At Les Cotils on 7-8 March experts will discuss how these deaths affect those left behind. Emergency service workers will learn how best to respond to friends and family in such situations and there will also be a workshop on early actions to prevent suicide. Anyone affected by suicide is welcome, organisers say.

A new health programme has been launched to help Cornwall's armed forces veterans and their families find the right kind of support. Two ex-military social workers have been recruited to offer advice and information on matters including mental health, money and employment. A two-year trial of the new social prescribing programme that ended last year helped more than 250 people. More than 30,000 veterans live in Cornwall, council figures show.
