    FALLING numbers of adopters on the national register has sparked concerns that there will soon be more children than families. These concerns come as adoption week begins on 25 November. Scottish Adoption Register (SAR) figures show that the number of registered adopters has fallen from 203 in March 2023 to 169 on the same date earlier this year, a 19% decrease.

Liam Bulman, 23, who lives in Wollongong, NSW, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroendocrine carcinoma - an incurable and rare cancer that will take his life. Friends and family have set up a GoFundMe to raise money for Mr Bulman so he can achieve his life goals - with nearly half of the $50,000 already raised.

    A lawyer copped a sobering blow from a magistrate after being found guilty of kneeing a police officer 'in the nuts' at Sydney's Vivid Festival last year. Sophie Holt yesterday denied in Downing Centre Local Court she was drunk during the altercation at The Rocks. But footage from a police officer's bodycam showed the 38-year-old slurring her words and appearing to stumble as police tried to tee up a lift home for her.

    Steampunks are like “Victorian time travellers”, says an admin of a society which is set to host its first Christmas event. Sharon Walker, one of the admins of the Grantham Steampunk Society, has discussed the steampunk movement ahead of the society’s first Victorian Christmas event on Saturday December 16 at Grantham Market between 11am and 4pm. The event will feature entertainment, steampunk stalls and umbrella duelling.

    Plans for a new hotel in the town centre have been approved. South Kesteven District Council’s Planning Committee voted to conditionally approve an application to change the use of 15 Swinegate from a dwelling to a bed and breakfast hotel. The applicant, Mr Dean Harrison, also owns the Angel & Royal in High Street and transformed the historic hotel during lockdown.
