AbstractBone defects often heal naturally, but larger defects require intervention through Bone Tissue Engineering (BTE). This review highlights Hyaluronic acid (HA), a biopolymer essential to the extracellular matrix (ECM), emphasizing its unique properties and role in enhancing osteogenesis in HA-based biomaterials. Hyaluronic acid plays crucial roles in cell proliferation, joint lubrication, and wound healing.

AbstractA comprehensive Gröbner system for a parametric ideal I in K(A)[X] represents the collection of all Gröbner bases of the ideals I′ in K[X] obtained as the values of the parameters A vary in K. The recent algorithms for computing them consider the corresponding ideal J in K[A, X], and are based on stability of Gröbner bases of ideals under specializations of the parameters A.

AbstractHere, we describe the isolation and characterization of two novel phages from Brazilian soil that infect Ralstonia solanacearum and Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum, which we have named “RS phage AB1 and RS phage CA1. Genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis revealed that RS phage AB1 is a novel member of the family Peduoviridae, while RS phage CA1 could not be classified as part of any established family.

In the current ethical debate surrounding the use of AI, Steven Kraaijeveld recently observed in the Curmudgeon Corner that addressing the creation and dissemination of AI-generated images requires us to “practice ways of looking at the world, so that we may come to read appearances differently” (2024). His reflection draws on The Concept of Reading, an insightful work by Simone Weil.

AbstractOxidative stress, a source of genotoxic damage, is often the underlying mechanism in many functional cell disorders. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have been shown to be key regulators of cellular processes and may be involved in maintaining cellular redox balance. Herein, we aimed to develop a method to assess the effects of EVs on DNA oxidation using porcine seminal plasma extracellular vesicles (sEVs).
