AbstractThe heart is the first functional organ to develop in the vertebrate embryos. In mice, the primitive tubular heart begins beating at embryonic day (E) 8.0-E.8.5 and undergoes rightward looping to form the atrial and ventricular chambers. The proepicardium, a transient cell cluster at the sinus venous-lateral plate mesenchyme junction migrates onto the heart and gives rise to the embryonic epicardium, a squamous epithelium that plays a key role in cardiac development.

AbstractTo evaluate existing alcohol policies in Canadian provinces and territories (P/Ts) against evidence-based best practice policies aimed at reducing alcohol-related harms and improving population health. Alcohol policies in Canadian P/Ts were evaluated across 11 policy domains. The scoring rubric was formulated based on the latest evidence-based public health criteria. Policy domains were weighted to reflect their relative effectiveness and scope.

AbstractPostgraduate medical trainees (PGMT) are at increased risk of burnout and diminished quality of life (QoL) due to the intense demands of medical training, especially in conflict-affected regions where additional stressors prevail. This study evaluates burnout and QoL levels among PGMT in a tertiary medical center and identifies associated predictors.
