The St. Helena Star is a weekly publication located in St. Helena, California. It is produced by Napa Valley Publishing Co., which is part of Lee Enterprises, the same company that publishes the Napa Valley Register. This newspaper has been in circulation since 1874. In 2011, it received recognition from the California Newspaper Publishers Association, earning a 2nd place award in the "General Excellence" category for newspapers of its size for the year 2010.

About 35 volunteers helped plant more than 160 native trees and shrubs to enhance the biodiversity of the man-made Napa Valley Community Forest that provides habitat for owls, rodents, coyotes, grebes and hummingbirds.

The St. Helena City Council wants to clear up a few details before throwing its full support behind a plan to bring free live music to a residential neighborhood. On Tuesday, councilmembers said they want to flesh out details about the proposed St. Helena Porchfest's financial viability, insurance coverage, and safety plans before giving the green light to the festival, which is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 28. The event will come back to the council for approval on July 22.

The Napa City Council will have its say on a plan to overhaul the site of a recently closed Kohl’s store — and start the path to building a hotel and housing in its place. Council members will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall to vote on four ordinances that would clear a path to the downtown redevelopment project, which would include two buildings to host a 161-room hotel, 78 condominiums and retail spaces.
