Many of these appointments, according to staff, will fill expired terms as well as two “unscheduled vacancies” due to members resigning prior to their expiration. The city received 55 applications. Members of these governmental bodies play a “critical role” in local governance by providing oversight and input during the decision-making process, according to staff.

A DUI and driver’s license checkpoint is scheduled to be held in Petaluma late Friday into early Saturday morning, Petaluma Police Department announced. The checkpoint, to be located at an undisclosed location within city limits, will start at 6 p.m. on Friday and conclude at 2 a.m. on Saturday, police said. “Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment with officers checking drivers for proper licensing delaying motorists only momentarily,” according to the announcement.

The fair – the first of its kind since the city took over its own fairgrounds last year – runs June 19 to 22. Fan favorites planned for the fair include livestock exhibits and Farmer's Day events.
