Petaluma Argus-Courier
The Petaluma Argus-Courier is a respected weekly newspaper that has earned numerous awards for its outstanding community journalism. Its history dates back to 1855, which is three years prior to Petaluma becoming an official city. Since November 2012, the newspaper has been part of Sonoma Media Investments, the same company that owns the Press Democrat and the Sonoma Index-Tribune.

Two North Bay chefs, a baker and a bean purveyor of rock star status were nominated Wednesday for the 2025 James Beard Media Awards. “The Bean Book” by Steve Sando and Julia Newberry is nominated in the single subject cookbook category. Sando, founder of Napa-based Rancho Gordo has been instrumental in the revival of heirloom beans and has developed an almost cult like following including a bean club nearly 30,000 members strong.
