The Napa City Council will have its say on a plan to overhaul the site of a recently closed Kohl’s store — and start the path to building a hotel and housing in its place. Council members will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall to vote on four ordinances that would clear a path to the downtown redevelopment project, which would include two buildings to host a 161-room hotel, 78 condominiums and retail spaces.

A convicted murderer’s fourth attempt to win early release from prison has failed. Eric Nathaniel (Nate) Marum, a Napa native serving 16 years to life in state prison for the 2005 murder of his former girlfriend Nicole Sinkule outside San Diego, was denied parole during a June 6 suitability hearing by the state Board of Parole Hearings.
