Grupo Firme, one of the major Mexican bands and an intended main attraction at this weekend’s Festival La Onda in Napa, has been denied entry to the U.S. and will drop out of the festival. The band announced in a statement Friday afternoon, posted to Grupo Firme’s Instagram account, that it had run into visa issues that prevented its planned concert Sunday night on La Onda’s second and final day at the Napa Valley Expo.

Updated at 5:05 p.m. Thursday - Twenty students at Vintage High School had confirmed or probable cases of pertussis in the course of about a month, Napa County Public Health reported Thursday. The cases at the high school on Trower Avenue in north Napa began to emerge in early April, according to Deputy County Executive Holly Dawson, who said the county has been in close contact with Napa school district officials since the outbreak emerged.

The man accused of snatching a woman off a Calistoga street and forcing her into his car was arrested Thursday afternoon in Butte County, less than 27 hours after the daylight abduction, police reported. At about 2:30 p.m. Butte County sheriff’s deputies stopped a car that authorities had linked to the suspect north of Oroville and arrested the driver, identified as 60-year-old Thomas Howard Phillips, according to Calistoga Police Chief Matthew McCaffrey.
