May 7, 2025 Ed Ryan took his fourth oath of office to serve on the Mehlville Fire Protection District Board of Directors at the board’s May 1 meeting. Ryan, first elected in 2007 and most recently reelected in the April 8 election, will serve on the board for another six years. In the most recent general municipal election, Ryan defeated challengers Fred Baumgarth and Steven Mossotti by receiving 56.1% of the community’s votes, while Baumgarth and Mossotti received 11.7% and 32.2%, respectively.

Oakville High School sophomore Samuel Engel has been making waves in the local music scene. Starting his musical journey on drums during the COVID-19 pandemic, Engel has since moved to the bass guitar, performing in two local bands: Aragon, a teen trio cover band started by Engel that plays a mix of ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s rock — “the era when rock ‘n’ roll was at its best” — and Torchlight Parade, an original band started by his dad, Doug Engel, and uncle, Matt Engel.
