The municipality of Summerland is asking residential property owners to voluntarily reduce their water use before stricter restrictions are issued. The call, on June 20, comes as drought conditions in the region escalate and pressure is put on the community’s water supply. The community is at Level 2 drought status, according to the BC Drought Portal, and the Similkameen region is at Level 3.

A half-dozen community events and workshops in Summerland got a boost with funding from the Neighbourhood Small Grants program. The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen's grant program provides up to $500 for grassroots ideas within communities. More than $25,000 in funding was available for projects across the whole South Okanagan Similkameen.

Ford never made a Fastback Cougar, so creating one has led to a vehicle with more than a million dollars worth of work.

The Raptors are returning this summer for a week-long event at Vernon's Allan Brooks Nature Centre. The popular event soars into town from June 21 to 25. "This much-loved event offers the public a rare chance to witness live flight demonstrations and participate in small group encounters with rescued birds of prey—including hawks, owls, and vultures," said Stephanie Comer, fundraising and events coordinator.
