Among them were numerous complications, unprecedented displays, new solutions for well-known problems, a new escapement, and the most accurate mechanical wristwatch ever. Vacheron Constantin sets a spectacular record with the Les Cabinotiers Solaria Ultra Grande Complication: with 41 complications, it is the most complicated wristwatch in the world.

Initially debuted in 1979, the Piaget Polo 79 has been a big talking point for us at Swisswatches ever since its revival last year, as reported on in great detail by my colleague Nico Bandl. It is a beautiful watch – and an undeniably grand watch, available up until now, true to the original, in glowing yellow-gold finished to perfection.

The Swiss watch and jewellery maison recently announced the introduction of several Piaget ‘Andy Warhol Watch’ models. With colourful and customisable new dials, these watches will no doubt continue to prove popular amongst the collector community and beyond. Last October, watch connoisseurs gladly received the news that an iconic watch known for its appearance on Andy Warhol’s wrist was being reinterpreted and introduced in the form of the fittingly named ‘Andy Warhol watch‘.

Everyone forges their own unique professional path – and Pascal Narbeburu, current Timepieces Director at Van Cleef, is no exception. His journey to the position is particularly interesting for two reasons. Firstly, he has worked exclusively for Richemont-led maisons that combine high jewellery and watchmaking: Piaget, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. Secondly, he started his career in the automotive industry, where, the Swiss director tells me, he gained a penchant for efficiency.

Rolex is presenting its new releases for this year at Watches & Wonders 2025. Highlights include a left-handed GMT-Master II with a green dial, revised Oyster Perpetual models, and several new dials. This year’s star of the show, however, is a completely new model: the Land-Dweller, housing several innovations in the movement. The new model is unmistakably a Rolex, with many design elements taken from current and historical models.
