You’ll be sure to find one in two pubs in Tameside, which will be offering a range of craft ciders during a 10-day festival. The Ash Tree in Ashton-under-Lyne and The Society Rooms in Stalybridge will have traditional apple ciders, perries and flavoured ciders on tap for the festival – which begins on Friday (June 27) and runs until Sunday, July 6.

    TAMESIDE residents are being encouraged to help prevent the spread of measles as the summer holidays loom large. It comes as recent data shows a rise in measles across Greater Manchester. The borough’s Public Health team are reminding families to check their MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccinations are up to date. This is particularly the case before travelling abroad, as measles outbreaks are also being seen overseas.

    THREE determined young fundraisers from Stalybridge have raised an impressive £901.00 for Willow Wood Hospice through a well-loved tradition – the community bake sale. Sisters Hazel and Elizabeth Capper, along with their friend Ivy Brownridge, brought the neighbourhood together with traybakes, gingerbread, and homemade crafts, all in aid of the local hospice.

    A HYDE town centre shop has been forced to close down after repeatedly selling illegal tobacco. H Local Store on Market Street had been found to be selling illicit cigarettes, hand-rolling tobacco and e-cigarettes on numerous occasions. Tameside Council says its Trading Standards team has seized 26,860 illegal cigarettes, 7.45kg of illegal hand-rolling tobacco and 284 illegal e-cigarettes from the shop since 2020.
