A FIRM has been given the go ahead to convert a Stalybridge town centre building into an educational facility for up to 25 children with special educational needs (SEND). First Steps Together Care Services has been told to introduce staggered drop-off and pick-up times and encourage staff and parents/guardians to use parking already available in the area. It has also been urged to get staff and customers on public transport to reach the Melbourne Street site.

HYDE’S MP Jonathan Reynolds has welcomed the decision to maintain the town’s Post Office at its current arrangements. The branch, on Market place, will soon be run by First Class Retail after the decision was made to franchise all Crown depots. Now Martin Edwards, Transformation Delivery Director at Post Office Limited, has revealed the switch, which should be completed by September, will result in no loss of services.

A HYDE girl’s death was ‘contributed to by neglect’ after she was found hours after being sent home from hospital. Five-year-old Lila Marsland was found unresponsive in bed by her mum about eight hours after she was discharged. Now an inquest jury has determined the little girl’s death was ‘contributed to by neglect.’Lila had been sent home from Tameside Hospital with antibiotics and a throat spray for tonsillitis.
