Still, in the Policy of Freedom of Thought, Inquiry and Expression, and Dissent by Students, the institution makes statements supporting students’ rights to express themselves as long as certain parameters are followed.
BREAKING: Hawkwatch Alert evacuates the UC

A Hawkwatch Alert was released stating a fire alarm in the Clayton University Center at Packard Hall was activated at 12:17 p.m. today. The alert instructed everyone in the building to “evacuate quickly and calmly.” A following “all clear” alert was sent at 12:25 p.m. According to a member of The Brown and White who was in the UC at the time, no alarm went off, but officers from the Lehigh University Police Department and Bethlehem Fire Department were present.
“Proof” is proof of complexities women face at Lehigh

“Proof,” a play by playwright and screenwriter David Auburn, tells the story of a woman who discovers a revolutionary mathematical proof. Among the many themes it addresses is an overarching focus on the difficulties faced by women in STEM fields. Sydney Weaver, ‘25, recognized this story and its motifs as something representative of many students at Lehigh. A year and a half ago, the theatre and journalism major decided on this particular play as the perfect piece to showcase at Lehigh.
Lehigh Dining announces Hawk's Nest renovations, Hillside Cafe closing

Lehigh Dining sent an email today announcing five updates to the dining program regarding three on-campus locations — Hillside Cafe, Hawks Nest and Global Cafe. The email stated Hillside Cafe will close this Friday.
LUAG showcases work by Lehigh faculty

Professors from Lehigh’s department of Art, Architecture and Design stepped out of the classroom and into the spotlight to showcase their work at the Lehigh University Art Galleries for the first time in five years. The exhibition ran from Feb. 4 to Feb. 18 in the main gallery of Zoellner Arts Center. The goal was to “celebrate the visionary talent and creativity of Lehigh’s Department of Art, Architecture and Design,” according to the gallery’s website.
Ski and Snowboard Club builds strong community on, off the slope

David Parry, ‘25, began skiing at just 2 years old, hitting the slopes in Vermont and the small Connecticut ski town he grew up in. While his passion for the sport came early, it has stuck with him for years. No matter where he went to college, Parry said, he wanted to be able to continue skiing as a student. The Lehigh Ski and Snowboard Club, which Parry is now vice president and treasurer of, has made that possible.
Clayton University Center reopens

After two and a half years of renovations, the Clayton University Center (UC) reopened today, offering students, faculty and staff a variety of new resources and dining options. The plan to renovate was announced by former Lehigh President John Simon in 2016 in . In 2018, Board of Trustees Chair Kevin L. Clayton, ‘84, ‘13P, and Lisa A. Clayton, ‘13P, gifted Lehigh with $20 million to fund the UC renovations and expansions.
Lehigh radio host AJ Fritz has died at 67 years old

Longtime Lehigh radio host Alfred Fritzinger, known to many as AJ Fritz, died unexpectedly Dec. 31 at the age of 67. Fritz worked as the manager of WLVR-HD-2 at Lehigh for 22 years. The digital subchannel is Lehigh’s NPR station, which features a college radio station programmed by students. Fritz was also the host of the show FritzRocks, an award winning free form rock radio program that has been running since 1996. His dedication to the music industry didn’t go unnoticed.
Jeremy Gibson selected as new dean of athletics

Jeremy Gibson, who has spent 27 years building a career in college athletics, was selected as Lehigh’s new Murray H. Goodman dean of athletics and will assume the role on Jan. 31. Gibson is the former vice president for . LGBTQ+ community faces uncertainty after election

The day after Election Day, the Eastern PA Transgender Equity Project saw the number of people requesting their services increase from five to over 70. As of Nov. 25, Corinne Goodwin, the nonprofit’s president, said they’ve received at least 20 requests per day since then. A 2021 study from the National Library of Medicine linked Donald Trump’s presidency from 2016 to 2020 to an increase in reported distress among LGBTQ+ adults.
