The Clymer/Sherman softball team stayed in it until the end, but Chautauqua Lake pulled away late in a 3-2 victory on Thursday. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the sixth when Alice Scarpine singled, scoring one run. Both teams were strong in the circle. Chautauqua Lake pitchers struck out 10, while C/S sat down six. A single by Elli Bodamer put Clymer/Sherman Wolves on the board in the top of the first. C/S took the lead in the top of the sixth. Bodamer singled, scoring one run.

HARBORCREEK — Anyone at the Erie County Classic track and field meet who didn't know about Corry senior Lindsey Hasbrouck certainly does after Thursday's meet. Hasbrouck was a triple gold medalist, leading the Lady Beavers to the team championship with 164.64 points. In winning the shot put, javelin and discus, she broke her own school record in the latter event, throwing 134 feet, 10 inches.

HARBORCREEK — Mason Savitz was jumping for joy, and Nolan Carey did his thing at Thursday's ECC boys track meet. Savitz won the high jump at 6-1 and also broke the long jump record with a big personal best. He broke Ryan Stancil's record, set in 1998 (21-5.5) by popping a 21-7 in the prelims. His previous best was 20-1.5. Carey easily won the javelin with a throw of 192-10, which broke the meet record.

ALBION — Karson Chamberlin pitched a two-hitter, striking out 14 with no walks Wednesday as Corry blanked Northwestern 7-0 in baseball action. "It was a great team win today; we jumped early on them, and Karson was lights out on the mound," claimed coach Jake Cirigliano. The bottom of the lineup helped Beavers as Wesley Kurelowech, Jacob Gantz and Jeremiah Johnson combined for four of the team's eight hits in the victory.

The Union City girls track team gave it all they had but came up short, falling 75-72 to Eisenhower on Tuesday. The boys team left nothing on the track or the field to bring home a 90-56 win. Highlights for the Lady Bears included Ava Reagle placing first in the 100 (13.0), 200 (27.8) and 400 (1:03). Olivia Ahl placed third in the 100 (14.8) and second in the 200 (31.2). Ciandralei Hunter placed third in the 200 (33.3) and second in the pole vault (7-6).
