The Journal is a newspaper with a rich history of 114 years, publishing from Monday to Saturday. The publication is based in its original building located in Corry, Pennsylvania, which is just 35 miles away from the shopping, entertainment, and lakefront areas of Erie. Co-champions Corry and Union City both made the District 10 softball playoffs. Appropriately, both teams were rewarded on the postseason all-star squads. Corry went 15-6 and was co-champions with Northwestern in its region, going 11-1. UC was also co-champs in Region 3, tied with Seneca at 9-1. For Corry, Allison Sawyer earned top honors, being named to the District 10 All-stars team. She also was selected for the Region 4 first team at shortstop.

The Corry Beavers had a pair of baseball players make first team all-region, while Union City had three players named to the first team. Corry's second baseman Kamdyn Moon and designated hitter Zack Coulter made first team in Region 5. Karson Chamberlin and Tucker Jackson made the second team. In Region 4, UC catcher Trevin Capela, third baseman Aiden Shuman and outfielder Luke Wright were on first team. On second team were Ian Kinney, Blake turner and Luke Racop.

Corry's 8U softball team has a familiar face coaching the girls. Dale Henderson, who guided the Corry varsity softball team to several region and district titles, is coaching the Lightning, who won the Titusville Valley Tournament and the Union City Diamonds tourney. In Titusville, Corry topped Oil Valley 7-5, the Erie Outlaws 15-1, Knox Chaos 8-4 and Erie again 12-0.
