It probably went unnoticed that the Hazzetta took a hiatus for the visit of Manchester City. Largely down to Christmas’ busy travelling, schedule and consuming excess made it difficult to afford the time required. However, there’s part of it that relates to the first words of this article. The jump from grief to relegation is gigantic. Never should the emotions conflate with the results part of football. However, relegation does follow a similar path. There can be intervals of hope.

A bold strategy does not pay offSorry Ben Dawson, but it looks like you are this week's villain. Assuming that it was our coach turned caretaker for this match’s decision to pick that formation and select those players to fill it. The formation itself looked a little bold, starting a trio of centre backs with higher wingbacks and a diamond in midfield with Jamie Vardy spearheading the attack. Not something we played under Cooper but familiar to some of the players.

The Foxes had been away from the King Power crowd for a month following the horrific implosion against Nottingham Forest. Even with a full Kop tifo from Union FS to look forward, excitement pre-match was somewhat lacking. The season is idling along, and a lot of shoulder-shrugging is occurring. Leicester City have yet to find their niche when it comes to style or identity. The idea in employing Enzo Maresca last season was to establish a new footballing principle and there are attempts at adopting the orderly style now.

Enter the biggest of the big questions we’ve had. Personally, I’m actually not as concerned about the on the pitch stuff as the off. After the Rodgers relegation season, while we perhaps don’t have the same level of quality in the playing squad, and coaching, there is at least some fight and effort. Off the pitch feels like a different story though. The word ‘disconnect’ has rarely been used so often by football fans as in the last decade, coming to a head in the last three years.
