The Maitland Mercury

The Maitland Mercury

The Maitland Mercury is the third oldest regional newspaper in Australia, following the Geelong Advertiser, which started in 1840, and the Launceston Examiner, which began in 1842. Founded in 1843, it was originally named The Maitland Mercury and Hunter River General Advertiser. Today, the Maitland Mercury continues to be published, providing news to the city of Maitland and the nearby Lower Hunter Valley region.
