Simon Building occupiers described their experience with campus security as “humiliating and discriminatory” after a disabled student was locked out from lifts and bathrooms. On the evening of the 26 March, campus security placed a bike lock on the doors connecting Simon Building rooms 3.44A and 3.44B to the rest of the third floor. Due to the floor layout, students with accessibility needs could not access the lifts. Additionally, the women’s toilets on that floor were also blocked off.

A Manchester PhD student has received a racist email after enquiring about accommodation on SpareRoom.com The student received the email from the host of the two-bedroom house in Hulme after enquiring about the accommodation. The unnamed landlord said that they would not accept a tenant “from the Indian subcontinent” because they “lie too much”, are “filthy”, and “abscond without paying dues”. The host wrote: “I have stopped taking Indian students for quite a while now”.

We’re back for a very special bumper edition of ‘fashion news in five’! Plenty has happened in the last couple of months, and we’re here to share it with you. Ellie Bamber (Nocturnal Animals, The Trial of Christine Keeler) is set to star in a biopic centred around Kate Moss’s relationship with the late artist Lucian Freud. Emmy winner Derek Jacobi (Gladiator, Hamlet) will be taking on the rule of Freud, who painted Moss during her pregnancy with daughter Lila Moss.
