A 47-year-old Challis woodcutter may have been murdered after authorities located his abandoned truck and dog in the central Idaho mountains this past weekend, according to a Monday news release from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office. Around 3 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s office was notified that Patrick Ray Shelton, 47, of Challis had not returned from a wood gathering trip in the mountains after he was expected to return on Wednesday, May 8, the sheriff’s office said.
