UKIAH, CA., 4/24/25 – Mendocino County is offering employees up to $25,000 to voluntarily resign in the wake of budget shortfalls, according to a memo sent to county staff Wednesday. The memo comes after the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a voluntary separation incentive program, or VSIP, at its regular meeting Tuesday. The decision comes as the county is trying to address a $2.6 million budget shortfall.

The fire is expected to take place Saturday and Sunday on lower Ten Mile Creek, near Highway 101 and approximately seven miles northwest of Laytonville.

MENDOCINO CO, 4/21/25 – Cal Fire will implement a prescribed burn at its Howard Forest headquarters near Willits starting Tuesday, the agency said. The prescribed burn will last almost two weeks, Cal Fire said. The expected end date is Friday, May 9. Burning will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the Cal Fire Mendocino Unit Headquarters at 17501 N. Highway 101 south of Willits. Smoke will be visible in the area, including from the highway.
