The News-Sun

The News Sun is a daily newspaper based in Kendallville, Indiana, and serves as the main publication for KPC Media Group. While it began numbering its issues from August 1911 and marked its 100th anniversary in 2011, its roots can be traced back to the mid-1800s. Originally known as the Kendallville News-Sun before July 1984, it evolved from the merging of the Daily News and Daily Sun newspapers in 1911, along with a series of weekly newspapers that came before them.

For more than 50 years ABC, with very few exceptions, has offered “The Ten Commandments” as the network’s featured film for Holy Week. Nothing says “Easter” like a showdown between Moses, the 13th-century B.C. Hebrew prophet, and the pharaoh, Ramses the Great, and the gods of Egypt. “Why is ‘The Ten Commandments’ an Easter movie? We wave palm branches and picture what it would look like to see the Messiah entering into Jerusalem, a peaceful king upon a donkey.

A friend of mine in college was from Michigan City and we had some great fun together, especially in our discussions about politics. She was a big fan of Indiana's senior senator at the time, Sen. Birch Bayh. Sen. Bayh, you might recall, was responsible for many things, including authoring the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which allows for the removal of a president from office. Bayh was defeated in 1980 by U.S. Rep.

AUBURN — The Auburn Common Council heard a tax increment finance (TIF) district management report Tuesday. Greg Balsano, from Baker Tilly municipal advisers, explained that a TIF management report is required to be filed by a community’s redevelopment commission by April 15 with the mayor, council and the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance. A new requirement, enacted in 2024, stipulates that the report be presented at a council meeting.

On April 3, funding for the humanities at Northeast Indiana community organizations evaporated. Across Indiana, funding for programs that help students learn about local history, equip libraries to expand offerings and fuel civic engagement vanished. Also lost were funds that supply resources to classrooms, support small-town festivals, and enhance Hoosiers’ ability to connect with each other and their community, state, nation, and the world.
