Men’s tennis celebrates senior day while sweeping Otterbein and defeating Trinity

In their second-to-last week of regular season play, the Case Western Reserve University men’s tennis team scored a pair of victories over Otterbein University and No. 25-ranked Trinity University. The pair of contest wins occurred on Friday, April 4, the same day the team celebrated its Senior Day in honor of the four graduating team members: fourth-years Casey Hishinuma, Ajay Mahenthiran, Ben Martin and Ansh Shah.
Swimming and diving earn numerous All-America honors at NCAA Championships

Over the course of four days this past week, the Case Western Reserve University swimming and diving teams competed in the 2025 NCAA Championships. The Championships, which occurred in Greensboro, North Carolina, from March 19-22, saw the Spartans achieve numerous accolades, including—but are not limited to—dozens of All-America honors and several podium finishes.

In their final game of the season, the Case Western Reserve University men’s basketball team triumphed over Carnegie Mellon University, finishing this away game in Pittsburgh with a final score of 110-104. With this win, the Spartans finish their 2024-25 campaign with a 9-16 overall record and a 5-9 record in UAA play, finishing with a fifth-place tie in the league standings.

As the 2024 NFL season comes to a close, what remains to be seen is what happens now for the Chiefs and Eagles.
Track and field participates in Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge

The Case Western Reserve University men’s and women’s track and field teams took part this past Saturday, Feb. 1, in the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge—a meet hosted by Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, around 20 miles from CWRU’s campus. Both teams showed respectable results across the board, with the men’s team taking second place out of five teams with 79 points, and the women’s team placing third out of five teams with 73 points.

This past Saturday, Jan. 25, the Case Western Reserve University swimming and diving teams swept Oberlin College during a home meet that took place in Veale Natatorium. The men’s team prevailed 231-57 over the Yeomen with wins in 15 out of 16 events, while the women’s team defeated the Yeowomen 242-51 and swept all 16 of their events.

The Case Western Reserve University men’s basketball team continued their UAA play this past weekend with a pair of games: one against Washington University in St. Louis, and another against the University of Chicago. In the aftermath of their upset win over Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, Jan. 11, CWRU failed to keep the momentum going as they suffered losses to both WashU (final score 64-104) and UChicago (final score 60-71). Too much freedom is dangerous

As we get older, our lives become more complex. As toddlers, our primary setting is our home, and the people we deal with are limited to family and siblings who care about us, wish us the best and are forgiving and generous. The consequences of misbehavior are also limited, such as getting yelled at by our parents. As we start attending school, the people that we deal with expand to our friends, fellow students and teachers, who are typically not as understanding and generous as our family.

After a disappointing winter break, where the Case Western Reserve University men’s basketball team lost both of their games in the E.M. “Mose” Hole/Wooster Kiwanis Classic, they returned on Jan. 11 to Horsburgh Gymnasium to upset No. 24-ranked Carnegie Mellon University 89-67 in their first UAA game of the 2024-2025 season. With the win, the Spartans improved 5-7 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Volleyball falls in first round of NCAA Tournament

Despite an early two-set lead, the Case Western Reserve University volleyball team concluded their 2024 season with a tough five-set fall to the University of Dubuque in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The squad ends the season with an overall record of 24-8 and a 5-2 record in conference play. Earlier in the semester, the Spartans went on a historic 12-0 run in nonconference matches and recorded Head Coach Karen Farrell’s 500th career win.
