The annual event started at 11 a.m. with various games like cornhole and “Go Fish,” and there was also a small basketball goal at the event where kids could also have more interactive fun as well.

The group was brought to the city through the Selma Ripple Initiative through the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business. Preston McGee, community outreach coordinator, said the goal is to not only help the students give back to the city, but it also exposes them to the Queen City.

I love seeing upsets and watching players I fall in love with over the course of three weeks. Some players earn their spot of immortality when they hit a buzzer beater that lifts their team to a win over an underdog. Recently, however, I have had personal rooting interests. I always love to see UAB make the NCAA Tournament.
