Algonac City Council members on June 17 unanimously approved three different special event permits for upcoming events in the city. The first event discussed at the recent meeting was Henry’s Club Cornhole Fundraiser Extravaganza, set to take place July 12. The event will be at the north end of Riverfront Park starting at 9 a.m. and ending at about 9 p.m., Mayor Rocky Gillis said. Tournament participants will sign up prior to the event.

Algonac City Council members approved several items at their June 17 meeting, including a federal grant policy, a BS&A Cloud upgrade and more. Mayor Rocky Gillis said Algonac’s auditors recommended that the city adopt a federal grant policy to ensure that it meets federal compliance standards. “Algonac is projected to receive federal funding in excess of $750,000 during the current fiscal year,” he said.

The St. Clair County Health Department’s new location is now officially open for service. The health department recently announced that it was relocating its main building from 3415 28th St. in Port Huron to a new downtown location at 220 Fort St. To accommodate the move, some services were temporarily paused from June 2 to 6. As of June 9, all services formerly offered at the old location are now being provided at the new location.
