    Four student teams from Anchor Bay Middle School North recently participated in the statewide Transportation and Civil Engineering State Bridge Building Challenge. The rigorous competition, sponsored by the Michigan Department of Transportation, took place on April 10 in Grand Rapids. Team Cable Guys — composed of Gavin Bonomo, Noah Burmistrzak and Easton Dunn — earned fifth place in the state, marking the highest placement Anchor Bay has ever achieved at the state competition.

    The New Baltimore Lions Club will conduct its annual White Cane fundraiser this weekend. Lions Club members will be posted around town collecting donations to support the visually impaired from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 2 to 4. Donations will be collected in front of local businesses, and at the following intersections: Washington and Main streets; Washington and Green streets, and 23 Mile Road and Jefferson Avenue.

    State Rep. Jaime Greene has introduced new legislation that aims to open the Michigan Reconnect program to more people. Greene, R-Richmond, introduced two bills on April 17 that will codify the age expansion of the Michigan Reconnect program to include 21- to 24-year-olds. The Reconnect program provides state scholarships to certain qualified individuals returning to school to earn an associate’s degree or skill certificate, allowing them to attend tuition-free or significantly discounted.

I don’t have words to respond to Carman Conforti’s propaganda defending Trump’s actions to subvert the Constitution and become an oligarch or dictator.
