    Ameris Bank plans to open a new branch at 300 E. McBee Ave. in downtown Greenville. The Atlanta-based bank will occupy a portion of the building’s first-floor space to create a new full-service retail branch. To streamline operations, Ameris Bank’s commercial banking and mortgage teams will also relocate from the bank’s office at 301 N. Main St. to the new location. Ameris Bank aims to move into the new space on or before July 1.

    Efforts to create a conference center in downtown Greenville are progressing. In mid-February, the city of Greenville issued a request for information inviting private developers to submit new ideas for a conference center with an adjacent or connected high-end hotel. Three proposals were submitted to the city by the April 18 deadline. City leadership has begun the process of reviewing the proposals.
