Here’s a recap of the city of Greenville’s Design Review Board April 17 meeting. Two commercial spaces in the Village of West Greenville will soon undergo exterior renovations to make way for new restaurant and office tenants. The board unanimously approved facade changes to the buildings at 1233 and 1237 Pendleton St.A new pergola with outdoor seating will be added to the exterior of the restaurant space, along with other facade improvements.

Updates on the $1 billion County Square project will be presented at the city of Greenville’s project preview meeting on April 22. Representatives from RocaPoint Partners, the project’s developer, will unveil conceptual architectural plans for several of the development’s buildings. The drop-in style meeting will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Prisma Health Welcome Center at Unity Park. Two multifamily buildings with ground-floor retail will be among those presented at the project preview meeting.

Financial challenges may cause Limestone University in Gaffney to close it doors after 179 years in operation. According to an April 16 news release from the university, it must obtain $6 million in order to stay fully operational. If the emergency finances aren’t secured, the institution will need to transition to a fully online model, effectively ending all in-person classes, activities and athletics on campus. The other option would be for the college to cease all operations.

A new master plan offers a glimpse into the future of downtown Greenville’s Bon Secours Wellness Arena, including a 6,500-seat amphitheater, a new entrance and a dramatically expanded concourse. Significant improvements are envisioned for the 15,500-seat arena and 12-acre campus over the next 25 years. The Greenville Arena District, the arena’s owner and operator, unveiled the proposed transformation to the public on April 17.
