The Bremer County Board of Supervisors made one change to the budget for the year ending June 30, 2026, after a public hearing on Tuesday, April 22. They reduced funds allocated for a wage study after hearing Iowa Workforce Development was going to do the study at no charge. The change was not expected to reduce the tax levy any further. The Warriors’ 400-meter relay has run the past three seasons at Drake; seniors Curley, May and alternate LeeAnn Oltrogge were on all three participants. This season, Curley anchored the team time of 51.53 seconds as Wapsie placed 69th.

WEST UNION — Matthew Bratten wasn’t happy with his Drake Relays performance Friday morning in Des Moines. Oelwein’s senior throw took it out on his discus later that afternoon. Buoyed by Bratten’s new school record toss, a long jump personal-record and several other top marks, the Huskies won the North Fayette Valley Invitational with 137 points, 25 better than South Winneshiek. It was Oelwein’s second win at NFV this season; the Huskies won the Early Bird Invite by 58 points.
