W42ST
Welcome to W42ST! We showcase Hell's Kitchen, a lively and thrilling part of the most energetic city in the world. It's the perfect place for our magazine launch. Even though this neighborhood is filled with energy and excitement, it's surprisingly one of the lesser-known areas in New York. We’re not sure why that is, but each month, we’re working to change that!

For the past 25 years, an intrepid group of volunteers from Hell’s Kitchen has worked tirelessly to save the lives of stray and feral cats throughout the neighborhood — with a little help from their neighbors along the way. From feral cats living in piles of rubble that would become Hudson Yards, to felines found wandering the streets, the nonprofit Urban Cat League has seen it all.

Firefighters were called to a vacant Hell’s Kitchen building this morning after reports of smoke emanating from the top floors. The building, located at 618 W46th Street (bw 11/12th Ave), was previously occupied by the European-style nightclub Pacha (which closed in 2016) and then Bane Haunted House, but has been vacant since fall of 2020. We observed crews of FDNY firefighters enter the building shortly before 11am, with oxygen tanks strapped to their backs.
