A lithium-ion battery sparked a fire Monday morning inside a 35th floor apartment at 555TEN, a luxury skyscraper on 10th Avenue between W40th and W41st Streets in Hell’s Kitchen. Emergency services received the first call just before 8am, and police, EMS, and FDNY firefighters rushed to the scene. The 56-story tower features high-end amenities including a skytop pool, and houses the Success Academy charter school on its ground floor.

A new restaurant is bringing life and excitement into Hell’s Kitchen’s Far West Side, serving classic American cuisine prepared by a world-renowned chef in a cozy environment. City Tavern and Table opened its doors early this month in the award-winning Bjarke Ingels pyramid building, VIA 57 West (W57th St bw 11/12th Ave), taking over a long-vacant space previously occupied by Hudson West Kitchen + Craft Bar (formerly Ousia), which closed its doors in August 2022.
