It's time to elevate the sandal game, my friends. This is a good time to realize that while the trend may have returned, it hasn't returned in the same fashion. Tevas: yes. Busted up nasty-ass Tevas: only for those situations where no other shoe should venture. Birkenstocks: yes. The same Birkenstocks you wore in college: maybe with the pajama pants you wore in college, but that's about it.

Today is another day of national protest. Due to events scheduled prior to the protest, I will not be in DC but hope to be home in time for the gathering in my neighborhood. I have shared things like retail bracketing and how I shop the Nordstrom sales, but especially considering my article on worthy replacements for my protest/travel/festival bag, I thought I’d share how I gather information to determine what is worthy of buying online. Online shopping is so convenient.

Tl;dr: My favorite travel and protest bag is no longer available but below I share the 5 bags I would consider if I didn't already have the bag I have. Did a lot of research, think I found a good balance of practical and cool. Do you remember when Target wasn’t trendy (and wasn't a disappointment)? It was where you got not terribly chic yet functional and versatile things. Great v-necks and tanks, and plain-ass bags that got the job done and then some.
