    By Shannon Fagan, WEIS Sports Director Eight area baseball players earned all-state recognition by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. The teams were released early Saturday morning. The Collinsville Panthers (20-10), who reached the second round of the Class 3A state playoffs, led the area with two selections and an honorable mention. Sophomore shortstop Mason McAteer earned a first-team spot on the infield.

    Staff ReportsThe Sand Rock volleyball players and coaches hosted a one-day camp on Friday for 42 young ladies going into second through seventh grade. The campers learned the fundamentals of the game and participated in drills, games, and competitions to help them be more comfortable with the game of volleyball. A special thanks goes out to Sand Rock Baptist Church for letting us use their facilities and Owens Sporting Goods for sponsoring the camp. The future looks bright for Sand Rock volleyball.

    Staff Reports The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats hosted a two-day basketball camp on May 27-28 for 40 girls going into grades 2-7. Current coaches and players led the future Lady Wildcats through drills, stations, and games to learn the fundamentals of basketball.     From ReportsGADSDEN – Gadsden State Community College head baseball coach and an infielder earned the highest recognition from the Alabama CommunityCollege Conference. Blake Lewis, head baseball coach, was named ACCC Coach of the Year. Aaron Wallace, a sophomore infielder from Hueytown, earned Player of the Year recognition and was named to the ACCC Division I All-Conference First Team along with teammate, Jayden Roberts.
