Staff Reports CEDAR BLUFF — Jaycee Cagle homered, doubled, scored twice and drove in five runs to lead the Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers to a 16-0 area softball win over Gaston on Thursday. Walker and Kylie Vadon both had a pair of doubles and a RBI apiece for the Lady Tigers. Ciana Smith doubled, scored twice and drove in two runs. Tylee Bradford had a hit and scored twice. Kaylyn Vadon had a hit, a run and a RBI. Anna Henderson scored twice and drove in a run. Rylie Walker scored a run and drove in one.

To hear Lady Panther coach Ricky Austin tell it, some of those battles are legendary. “I’ve been a P.E. teacher and I’ve witnessed some of those battles,” he said. “Our girls and boys love playing against each other.

The AHSAA MONTGOMERY – Spring Garden High School’s varsity softball program has been fined and placed on probation for playing an ineligible student-athlete in violation of the AHSAA’s Outside Participation Rule. The violation was self-reported. As a result, Spring Garden High School’s varsity softball program must forfeit the game won in which the ineligible student participated. The game was an area contest against Gaylesville.

Staff ReportsThere were no changes for area baseball and softball teams in the final Alabama Sports Writers Association baseball and softball rankings of the season. The final poll was released early Thursday morning. Collinsville (17-8) maintains its No. 8 ranking in Class 3A baseball. Cherokee County (18-13), Piedmont (16-13), Cedar Bluff (16-12) and Spring Garden (16-8) are among the other baseball teams nominated.

Staff Reports SAND ROCK – In the completion of a suspended area softball game from last Thursday, the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats blanked Gaston 10-0 on Wednesday. Molly Grace Lay led the Lady Wildcats with a pair of hits, a walk, a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs. Emma Sipsy doubled, scored a run and had a RBI. Macy Martin delivered a hit, a run and a RBI. Addisyn McMichen had a hit and a run. Maddie Clanton added a hit and a RBI. Aliyah King walked twice and scored twice.
