Crown of the Continent Choir Whitefish performance closes season

The Crown of the Continent Choir will close out its 13th season at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish on April 27, with a reception and silent auction at 3 p.m., followed by the choir’s finale concert at 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The Kalispell-based choir is made up of community members of varied ages, musical backgrounds and life experiences who sing free of charge at many community activities and fundraising events.

The Whitefish City Council last week agreed to commit funds to the Workforce Rental Assistance Program. Daniel Sidder, executive director of Housing Whitefish, proposed a funding plan for the next three years. The city would contribute $200,000 in fiscal year 2026, $250,000 in 2027 and $300,000 in 2028. Housing Whitefish will raise funds to match the city’s contributions one to one.

A proposed timber sale on state land stretching from Spencer to Beaver lakes in the Whitefish area received 70 public comments during its scoping period in February. An interdisciplinary team of the Kalispell and Stillwater units of the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation is evaluating the comments and expects to release an environmental assessment for the project this summer.

The beauty of having a season pass is skiing as much as you want. If conditions are good, an epic day on the slopes for an average skier might include a dozen runs, or about 27,000 vertical feet. Michael Donnay is not an average skier. Whitefish Mountain Resort has been tracking vertical feet by scanning season passes at chairlifts since 2003 and finding a vertical champion each year.
Big Mountain caps season with nearly 500,000 skier visits

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s 2024-25 ski season saw great snow initially, an early spring and then a second winter when March served up a couple legit powder days. The mountain received a total of 282 inches of snow during the season. Jan. 4 hosted the most season passholders, as 4,819 took to the slopes. March 22 was the deepest day, with 6 inches falling overnight and 5 inches during the previous day.
