    The consignment of used ski gear, and the communal aspect it brings to Whitefish, is going to be a bit farther from Big Mountain next year. For over three decades, consignment shop Runner Up Sports has played a part in Whitefish’s retail and culture by providing a down-to-earth place to sell and exchange used gear for just about anything outside.   This summer, owner Chad Colby is moving the shop from Whitefish to Columbia Falls. Now, he’s got both nostalgia and moving labors on his mind.

    It was about three years ago when longtime Whitefish residents Charlie Abell and Dewey Hartman were chatting over coffee at the Buffalo Cafe that the idea for a book compiling letters about growing up in Whitefish came about.  They and other members of the class of 1958, about 20 to 30 in total of the original 63 members, connected from around the country to remember times past, and to successfully publish their book, “Love Letter to Whitefish, Montana,” in honor of the class's 65th reunion.
