All around excellence propelled the Whitefish tennis teams to the podium this season. The boys claimed first place while the girls took third at the Class A State Tennis Tournament in Billings last week. “The Whitefish boys came out and displayed a phenomenal team spirit throughout the tournament,” said boys coach Doris Puglisi. “As a coach, you couldn’t ask for any better - very proud.” Patrick Dryden, girls coach, spoke on how the program as a whole has made huge strides.

A group of Whitefish students have organized a community event focused on destigmatizing mental health and promoting inclusivity. The Mindful May Festival is set for this Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m, on the Whitefish High School front lawn. The free, family-friendly inaugural event will have local businesses participating as wellness-related vendors, complete with live music and a food truck.

This summer marks one year since Flathead Valley resident Emily Rea went missing in the Hungry Horse Reservoir on July 16. A rally this weekend aims to provide updates and gather the community to help re-coordinate search efforts as a part of the search’s campaign, “Eyes for Emily.” The event is Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Whitefish United Methodist Church at 1150 Wisconsin Ave. The event expects speakers from Rea’s family and the community.

It was a beautiful April evening when 30 attendees gathered at Whitefish High School for a dinner fundraiser that collected about $7,000 for two local families affected by cancer. The event was organized by the Whitefish High School Cancer Support Network, a student-run club. The two families benefiting were staff members. Several teachers and school staff, parents and other community members purchased tickets for $50 each to help support the effort.

Whitefish Middle School orchestra's promising young musicians put on a spring orchestra concert on Thursday, May 22 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. The program included a traditional twinkle, Spy Rock, The Abandoned Funhouse, and Royal Promenade for the sixth graders. Seventh graders played Fiddles on Fire, Fire in the Bow, Jupiter Theme (from "The Planets"), and Dragonhunter. Eighth graders played Viola Country, Viva La Vida, Havana, and Battle.
