An elderly man has died in the car park of Chippenham Community Hopsital. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11am this morning (Monday). Car Park 2 was blocked by police as ambulance crews provided urgent care to a man, aged in his 80s, who reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite the best efforts of 999 crews, he was pronounced dead shortly after midday. Wiltshire Police confirmed that officers attended the “sudden death of a man in his 80s”.

Police have closed a road near Avebury following a crash this afternoon (Monday). Emergency services were called to the A4361 north of the stone circle, at around midday. One person is dead and nine others have been injured in a horror crash on the M4. Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the westbound carriageway in Wiltshire at around 11.30pm last night (22 June). The incident, between junctions 16 and 17, left a woman – aged in her 40s – dead. Another female – aged in her 70s – was seriously injured, and remains in hospital for urgent care.

Loud bangs were heard as 999 crews raced to a car fire in Swindon. Emergency services were called to garages between Penhill Drive and Bratton Close, Penhill, at around 11.30pm on Saturday night (21 June). The vehicle, believed to be a Ford Focus, was well alight on the arrival of firefighters. The flames were put out, and the police arranged for the car to be recovered from the scene. It’s not yet known what caused the blaze, or if officers are treating it as arson.

A blaze in Calne was extinguished after eight hours of intense firefighting. More than 50 firefighters were involved in tackling a huge fire at Qsil, on Porte Marsh Industrial Estate, on Saturday afternoon (21 June). As temperatures hit 30 degrees celsius, eleven fire crews from across the county worked tirelessly to bring the raging flames under control. It took around eight hours to put the fire out – with it confirmed extinguished at 9.45pm.
