A Wiltshire woman’s dog was found malnourished after months of neglect. At Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (7 May), Millie Williams was found guilty of failing to ensure her French Bulldog’s needs were met. The hearing was held in the defendant’s absence, after she did not turn up. Following her conviction, an arrest warrant was issued by District Judge Apted.

An arson attack and knife threats have landed a Swindon man a prison sentence. Drug addict Craig Day set fire to the carpet of a hostel in Caufield Road, Gorse Hill, in a row over his missing cocaine on 24 November last year. Swindon Crown Court heard that the 36-year-old poured lighter fluid on the floor to start the flames, and continued pouring it on to fuel the blaze.

A woman has been arrested after two dog attacks in Swindon – with a cat killed, two dogs injured and a person wounded. The 33-year-old is currently being questioned in custody, where she’s been held on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control causing injury. Officers made the arrest after issuing a public appeal on social media on Tuesday (6 May). It comes after a cat was fatally wounded by a dog on 3 May, and two dogs and a person were attacked by a dog in Moredon on 11 April.

Eight people have been arrested after immigration officers raided a Home Bargains site in Wiltshire. The Home Office, working with Wiltshire Police, attended the company’s regional distribution centre in Amesbury on Wednesday evening (7 May). Immigration enforcement officers and police officers carried out checks on employees there. While most staff were working legally, eight people were arrested for immigration offences.

The Israeli embassy in London was the target of an alleged terror attack plot, it has been widely reported. Specialist officers from the Met Police’s Counter Terrorism Command (CTC) arrested a suspect in Swindon town centre on Saturday (3 May). The man, now known to be an Iranian national, is being questioned over plans to attack the Israeli embassy in London, it’s understood.
