WEST BEND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Jessica Kroening was convicted Tuesday for her role in the illegal poaching of more than 100 deer. Kroening, 37, pleaded guilty Tuesday to misdemeanor counts of illegally shining deer and to intentionally contributing to the delinquency of a child. A count of resisting a conservation warden was dismissed, court records show. Sentencing is May 2. Three minors also faced charges in juvenile court in the case.

TOWN OF NASEWAUPEE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The observation tower at Potawatomi State Park in Door County is open for the first time in seven years. The tower opened this week, according to the Friends of Potawatomi State Park organization. After the tower closed for the season in December 2017, it did not reopen the following spring when the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says it discovered significant wood decay.

OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Sybastian Crossman was convicted Tuesday of a reduced charge for a fatal stabbing in Oshkosh. Sentencing is scheduled for June 23. Crossman, 24, pleaded no contest to homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon for the Aug. 10 incident outside a restaurant, court records show. He had been charged with first-degree reckless homicide. Trial had been set for May 5.

APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A $50,000 Powerball ticket was sold in Appleton over the weekend. The winning ticket was purchased Saturday at True North Energy on 120 S. McCarthy Road for the April 19 drawing. It matched four of five numbers (7-25-37-39-63), plus the Powerball (1). “What a great day. This is fantastic. It wasn’t that long ago we sold a winning $100,000 scratch ticket. I hope this win is a local winner,” said True North Energy Manager Melody Stoltz in a news release.
