Preparations are well underway for this spring’s Junkstock festival. Last year, on April 26, a tornado hit less than a week before the festival was set to begin. This year, the spring festival is set to run April 25-27 and May 2-4. The trees in the area are twisted and sparse, and some were torn down entirely. They are evidence of the disaster that came through just south of Waterloo nearly a year ago. But the pieces of destroyed small buildings were removed long ago.

A man charged with four counts of child sex abuse has been officially fired by the Papillion La Vista Community Schools. The school board made the unanimous decision on Monday night to fire Jeffrey Fauble, who was arrested in late March. He worked as a school psychologist at G. Stanley Hall Elementary School since August.

Next month, Papillion La Vista and Papillion La Vista South seniors will have to wait an extra day before leaving high school for the final time. Instead of ending on a partial day on Thursday, May 8, seniors will wrap up their schooling on Friday, May 9 with a partial day. They'll have a full school day on May 8. All students in the district will now have school on Monday, April 21, which was previously scheduled to be a teachers-only day.

OMAHA, Neb. — Three teenagers planned to steal from a megastore by staying inside after close, Douglas County Sheriff Aaron Hanson tells KETV. A 16-year-old and two 15-year-old boys set up a hammock behind paper towels on the shelves before they were caught. It happened just before 11 p.m. on Friday at the Walmart near in Omaha, Hanson said. He said they were equipped with food, drinks and ski masks. "A lot of teenagers today, they want these video games," he said.
