(Exira, IA) Exira residents expressed frustration over ongoing water shortages and boil advisories during a visit from State Auditor Rob Sand. Since the 2019 flood, persistent drought has left water tables low, straining the Regional Water Rural Water Association system, which serves 2,600 connections across five counties. A May 14 boil advisory, now lifted for most towns, followed low pressure in the system. Residents remain under water-use restrictions.

(Stuart, IA) West Central Valley boys soccer has had a terrific season so far this year and it’s not done yet. The undefeated Wildcats have a record of 16-0-1 with their only tie coming against Des Moines Christian. The Wildcats were able to get over the hump this year in the district championship game with a 2-1 win over Pella Christian. Head coach Matt Smith says it was a great win as they were able to overcome a shaky start.

(Atlantic, IA) The Atlantic softball team started off its quest for a Hawkeye 10 title last night with the conference opener on the road against Glenwood. After dropping the first game of the season to Missouri Valley 9-7, the Trojans were able to get the win 6-2. The game started off quick for the Trojans, as they took the lead 1-0 in the first thanks to a lead-off home run from the catcher, Lila Wiederstein. That makes it the junior’s second home run in the first two games of the season.

(Harlan, IA) The Harlan Cyclones came into this season with a pair of new coaches in Brett Croghan and Nolan Reese, trying to rebuild a program that has been struggling the last couple of seasons. Last year the Cyclones finished with a record of 3-29, with underclassmen on the field all over the place. This season, Harlan has gotten off to a rough start dropping both games in a double-header against No. 15 ranked Creston, followed by a 8-0 loss against ADM.
