City planning grand opening for Fairmount Park disc golf course

A grand opening of the new 10-hole disc golf course at Fairmount Park will be held by the City of Council Bluffs on Monday, May 12, from 5 to 7 p.m.The weather-dependent event will feature a disc toss ceremony, contests, prizes, and a local taco truck, according to a news release. Instead of cutting a ribbon, a group of city officials, community members and youth representatives will throw discs down the first fairway at the same time to “open” the course.

Cheers echoed down the halls of Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln high schools this week as outgoing seniors celebrated their future plans upon graduation. The Council Bluffs Community School District held College and Career Decision Day events Thursday morning at TJ and Friday morning at AL. In total, 221 students declared their future plans in front of cheering classmates.
