A 37-year-old Council Bluffs woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly firing a gun at a man near 32nd Street and West Broadway. The Council Bluffs Police Department announced that Brandy Blake was arrested without incident by officers responding to the scene of a shots fired call on the 3100 block of Avenue A about 1:42 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release distributed late Wednesday night.

Investigation finds no wrongdoing in Page County special election

An investigation into a former Page County supervisor's visit to the courthouse while absentee ballots were being collected has found no wrongdoing. Jacob Holmes and his three children were let into the Page County Courthouse after regular hours by Auditor Cindy VanFosson on Jan. 20, according to a news release from the Page County Sheriff's Office.

'Stop the Scammers' tour visiting Council Bluffs in June

Mills County approves hiring of additional deputy to increase coverage of county

The Mills County Board of Supervisors recently approved adding an additional deputy to the Mills County Sheriff's Office. The supervisors approved the request from Sheriff Greg Schultz to hire another deputy at its April 1 meeting. The board voted 2-0 to approve the request. "It's been needed for a while," Supervisor Jack Sayers said. The new position will "help increase our coverage throughout the county," Schultz said.
