    A month after JetBlue Airways dropped plans to fly between Islip, New York, and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), regional carrier Cape Air has unveiled it will operate the route. JetBlue had been scheduled to open daily summer seasonal service between Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) and BOS on May 1, but scrapped the route just days before it was supposed to launch. The carrier said bookings were below expectations.

    Air Canada is dropping four transborder routes for its 2025-26 winter schedule as the carrier shifts capacity away from the U.S. amid ongoing political tensions between Canada and its southern neighbor. The airline will cut two routes from Montreal Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and one each from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Flights between YUL and Detroit will end Sept. 30. Service between YUL and Minneapolis will cease Oct. 19.

    U.S. ULCC Frontier Airlines is opening five routes this week, including three from Atlanta and two from Puerto Rico. The airline has said it is increasing departures from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) by 40% this year versus 2024. On May 22, the carrier kicked off service between ATL and Oklahoma City Rogers International Airport (OKC), followed by the May 23 opening of flights between ATL and Kansas City International Airport (KCI), Missouri.

    Japan and South Korea are initiating a pilot program in which passengers from each country will be able to use fast-track lanes at immigration when arriving at designated airports in the other country. The foreign ministries of both countries announced the program, which will be in place for the month of June at two airports in each nation.
