SENECA — The Lake and Mountain Quilters Guild will be showing off its best work next week at its annual quilt show. This year’s overarching theme was “Art feeds the soul,” because quilts “are a form of art and artistic expression,” according to show co-chair Carolyn Harris. WESTMINSTER — The fellowship hall at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Westminster was packed on Thursday for the city of Westminster’s second annual Juneteenth luncheon. Emcee Cassie Owens Moore, librarian at Seneca Middle School, first gave a brief history of Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19 each year. Juneteenth is the celebration of the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation, signed in 1863.

WESTMINSTER — A Westminster Planning Commission meeting Monday addressed three different parcels of land — two up for annexation, and one to rezone an unaddressed parcel of land. The unaddressed parcel is adjacent to 215 Lucky Street and was zoned as Residential-20. Property owners Nathanial and Holly Douglas were at the meeting and said they planned to build either a triplex or quadplex on the property, which abuts a duplex they already own.
