    Built to replace the venerable P-3 Orion in the maritime reconnaissance role, the Boeing P-8 Poseidon entered U.S Navy service in 2013. Based on the 737-800, it is also operated by the air arms of Australia, the United Kingdom, Norway, and New Zealand and has been ordered by South Korea, Canada, and Germany. While there have been Poseidons in 1/72 and 1/200 scale before, the Academy 1/144 scale P-8A Poseidon plastic model kit is the first in the “standard” airliner scale.

    The IPMS/USA National Convention and largest model show in North America occupied the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison, Wisconsin, for four days, July 17-20, 2024. Modelers from across the U.S. and Canada, as well as Argentina, Australia, the United Kingdom, and French Polynesia, gathered to spend money in the large vendor room, attend seminars, talk about techniques, catch up with friends, and, of course, show off their efforts in the contest room.

    Ihor HlohowskyjDowners Grove, IllinoisThis bizarre-looking aircraft is the Kharkiv KhAI-3, an 11-passenger aircraft that first flew in September 1936. Ihor built a Mikro-Mir 1/72 scale kit of the one-of-a-kind plane out of the box and painted it with Tamiya acrylics except for metallic areas that were colored with Vallejo Metal Colors. Charles M.
