(WJAR) — In a vote Monday night, the Providence Teachers Union approved the terms of a contract agreement with the school district. “The tentative agreement did pass," confirmed Providence Teachers Union President Cindy Robles with NBC 10. "I think that this is a great step for us as a union and for us as a profession," said Robles. “To be honest with you, I’m sure a lot of our members feel a sense of relief.”The union's previous contract expired in August 2024.

(WJAR) — The investigation continues into an apparent police shooting in Pawtucket. Pawtucket Police say it all started when they received calls Sunday morning of a man threatening pedestrians and passersby with a gun right outside this apartment complex on Broad Street. Witnesses tell us that the man is a special needs individual who resides in the complex, and that the gun he was carrying may have been a toy.

GLOCESTER, R.I. (WJAR) — On Tuesday night, the Glocester School Committee voted and passed a budget that cuts more than a dozen district jobs. It says it had to cut positions after the town council approved a school budget that came up short. “We’re standing on the edge of the cliff right now,” said Glocester Teachers' Association Co-President Erin MacPhee.
