Brown University student who sent DOGE-style emails to administrators faces discipline

Brown University has filed disciplinary charges against a student accused of DOGE-ing the Ivy League Institution. In March, Sophomore Alex Shieh sent an email to nearly 3,800 administrators at Brown, asking them to describe what tasks they performed throughout the week. The emails seemed to mimic those of Elon Musk’s federal DOGE, or Department of Government Efficiency.

Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan told NBC 10 data recovery and loss prevention teams are working around the clock to get Fall River School's systems back up and running. “It’s all hands on deck," said Coogan. The district, he said, is the victim of a ransomware attack, and the FBI is involved. “They were called, absolutely. We look for all of our partners to help us on this," said Coogan. Coogan did not know the amount of ransom demanded by the hackers or where exactly the attack came from.
